ARIDEGBE is a special name originated from two tribes in Yoruba land, Nigeria. It is only people from a town called IGBAJO in Osun State and ABEOKUTA from Ogun state that bears that name. The meaning as told by our grand parents is that ARIDEGBE is a royal family and when people contested for royal position then; they were told to go into the forest and look for ''ide'' meaning Bronze. the men were told that anyone who finds the ''ide'' will become the king of the land. it was told that our great great grand father was the one that found it and they declared it that ''A ri ide gbe'' means We found the Bronze to carry. it became one word Aridegbe. That is how we were crowned as king. Every one who bears that name is a royal son/daughter of the land.
