He later attended Fresno State University where he was a Freshman All-American in 1988 after going 14-2 with 11 complete games. The Bulldogs were at one point ranked #1 in the nation after winning 32 consecutive games, and eventually finished 7th in the 1988 College World Series. He also was a member of Team USA in 1989.
