John Rich was an American war correspondent for NBC News.
John Rich (1692–1761) was an important director and theatre manager in 18th-century London. He opened The New Theatre at Lincoln's Inn Fields in 1714, which he managed until he built the Theatre Royal, Covent Garden in 1732. He managed Covent Garden until 1761, putting on ever more lavish productions. He popularised pantomime on the English stage and played a dancing and mute Harlequin himself from 1717 to 1760 under the stage name of "Lun." Rich's version of the servant character, Arlecchino, moved away from the poor, dishevelled, loud, and crude character, to a colourfully-dressed, silent Harlequin, performing fanciful tricks, dances and magic. Rich's decision to be a silent character was influenced by his unappealing voice, of which he was well aware, and the British idea of the Harlequin character was heavily inspired by Rich's performances.
John Rich was an American film and television director. He directed Colonel Humphrey Flack, I Married Joan, Gunsmoke, Bonanza, Hogan's Heroes, Something So Right, Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C., Where's Raymond?, Mister Ed, The Dick Van Dyke Show, All in the Family, The Jeffersons, Maude, Good Times, Barney Miller, Newhart, Benson, The Brady Bunch, and Gilligan's Island. His feature film credits include Wives and Lovers, Boeing Boeing, The New Interns, Roustabout and Easy Come, Easy Go. He also participated in the live telecast of the opening-day ceremonies of Disneyland in 1955.
John Rich is an American country music singer-songwriter, accomplished record producer, and thriving entrepreneur. From 1992 to 1998, he was a member of the country band Lonestar, in which he played bass guitar, co-writing his inaugural #1hit song called "Come Cryin'To Me" and sharing lead vocal duties with Richie McDonald. Departing from Lonestar in 1998, he ventured into a solo career under BNA Records in the late 1990s, where he released two singles and recorded "Underneath the Same Moon", which was delayed until 2006. In 2001, he singlehandedly released "Rescue Me", an album inspired by a cancer patient named Katie Darnell. By 2003, he teamed up with Big Kenny to establish the duo Big & Rich, achieving success with three albums under Warner Bros. Records as well as ten singles, notably chart topper "Lost in This Moment". After Big & Rich went on hiatus in 2007, Rich began work on a third solo album, "Son of a Preacher Man", yielding two more chart singles including the Top Ten hit songs "Shutting Detroit Down." In 2011, he released two extended plays, "Rich Rocks" and "For the Kids", before re-vitalizing Big & Rich in 2012. They launched "Big and Rich Records" in 2014, experiencing considerable success with big hits like "Look At You", "Loving Lately", and "Run Away With You."
